Northcliffe Launch Focuses on Interaction
A Northcliffe spokesman has asserted that the publisher is looking to enhance its interactive offerings with a range of new sites.
Guardian.co.uk reports that the company is unveiling some 45 new websites today, many of which form hyperlocal additions to existing news portals.
And director of marketing Sean Mahon revealed that the latest move is designed to open further the channels of communication between the websites and their users.
He said: “The whole thing for us now is looking at total audience across newspapers and websites and as part of that we’re focusing on interaction.
“We have 200,000 interactions on our sites each month, be that voting, commenting or registering.”
Mahon also commented that Northcliffe is considering web launches in areas of the UK where it does not have print coverage.
Among the new areas to be served by hyperlocal sites are Sherwood and Beeston through pages on thisisnottingham.co.uk.
This takes Northcliffe’s website total to 151 and means the group now publishes more websites than newspapers.
